2011-2012 Meeting Schedule
Meetings are typically held the third Tuesday of the month.
Breakfasts are from 8:00-9:00 am. Members will need to cover their own breakfast costs when meetings are at Hy-Vee.
Lunches are from noon to 1:30 pm. Lunch is provided as a membership benefit. Josh Schamberger, President of the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, will be talking about event management. Josh is a great visionary and passionate community leaders who has been instrumental in launching creative projects like Herky on Parade, establishing FRY Fest, and attracting big events like RAGBRAI and the 2012 Olympic Wrestling Trials to our area. Hope House, 2501 Holiday Road, Coralville, IA. Work Crew Leader and VAN Leadership Team member Mike Quinlan will talk to us about restorative justice and working with community service volunteers. He will screen a 10 minute video about the work his crew does and give a tour of the Hope House (halfway house). Breakfast provided.

Volunteer managers face the challenge of communicating effectively and empathizing with increasing numbers of people under increasing stress. Learn how to maintain the mental, emotional and physical health of yourself and your volunteers to decrease burn-out and revitalize volunteers.

This year's meeting locations may include new venues like the Coralville Center for Performing Arts, the Extension Office, the Joint Emergency Communications Center, and the eastside Recycling Center / Salvage Barn.
Topics may include event management, greening your event, PR/marketing, volunteers in times of disaster, etc. Please contact the Leadership Team with topic / speaker suggestions!
